3dSen Leaves Early Access

3dSen Leaves Early Access
06/22/2025

3dSen, the emulator that transforms classic NES games into full-fledged 3D experiences, has officially left Early Access. Version 1.0 launched on June 19, 2025, and is now available on Windows, Linux, and Intel-based macOS.

To celebrate the release, the game is 40% off on Steam until June 26.

Features

  • 3D NES rendering – classic 2D graphics are reimagined as voxel-based 3D scenes.
  • Dynamic lighting and skyboxes – adds atmosphere and depth to every game.
  • Support for 100+ games – including Super Mario Bros., Zelda, Contra, and more.
  • Free camera control – zoom, rotate, and customize your view.
  • Convenient tools – save states, rewind, fast forward, and gamepad support.
  • VR mode – available in a separate version, 3dSenVR.

Note: 3dSen does not include games — users need to provide their own ROM files.

The project is developed by a single creator, Tran Vu Truc, who builds visual profiles by hand without relying on automation.

Player Impressions

Players appreciate the idea and execution: 3dSen is stable, easy to use with ROMs, and offers a fresh take on familiar games. The technical quality stands out, especially for retro enthusiasts. Reactions to the 3D effect vary — some love it, others find it overwhelming. There are occasional complaints about a limited selection of supported games or minor performance issues. Opinions on pricing are mixed.

Overall, the feedback is positive. 3dSen is a unique, well-crafted project that lets players experience NES classics from an entirely new perspective.
