Tsarevna: A Deadly Ballet

Tsarevna: A Deadly Ballet
18/06/25

Tsarevna is a unique new title from Watt Studio — a dark fantasy slasher where combat unfolds through the elegance of classical ballet.

About the Game

You play as the Tsarevna — the last descendant of a fallen dynasty — who journeys through a world filled with spirits, ghosts, and ancient gods. Armed with a blade fueled by raw emotion, she fights not with brute force, but through dance. The combat system is built on the movements of classical ballet: pliés, pirouettes, and port de bras were brought to life with the help of professional motion capture performed by Bolshoi Theatre prima ballerina Alena Kovaleva.

Tsarevna blends graceful choreography with the mechanics of fast-paced action games, drawing inspiration from the likes of FromSoftware. Expect parries, combos, and spellcasting all woven into dance-like sequences. The world spans multiple layers — from underground ruins to celestial realms — with a strong focus on atmosphere and visual storytelling.

The Developers

Tsarevna is being developed by Watt Studio, an independent Serbian team best known for the atmospheric indie game Hannah’s Day. The team specializes in visually expressive projects and motion capture work, building on Unreal Engine. With Tsarevna, they’re channeling one of their core strengths — choreographed movement — enhanced by professional ballet performance.

The game is scheduled for release in 2026.
