The demo for the action game Stellar Blade is now available on Steam. This marks the first opportunity for PC players to try the game ahead of its full release on June 11. Originally launched for PlayStation 5 on April 26, 2024, Stellar Blade received high praise for its intense combat, stunning visuals, and atmospheric world.
Stellar Blade is a story-driven third-person action game set in a post-apocalyptic future. Players take on the role of Eve, a warrior sent to reclaim Earth from mysterious creatures known as the Naytibas. The game blends elements of hack-and-slash combat, platforming, and RPG progression, with a strong focus on precise battles, cinematic storytelling, and character development.
Upon its PS5 release, Stellar Blade was met with mostly positive reviews from both critics and players. Reviewers highlighted its fluid animations, impactful combat, and memorable enemy designs. Many compared it to titles like NieR: Automata and Bayonetta. On Metacritic, the game holds an average score of 81 out of 100. Players also praised the game's tone and visuals, while noting occasional performance dips and a somewhat cluttered interface.
The demo offers around 40 minutes of gameplay, including the opening sequence, the first boss fight, and a mid-game segment. Progress made in the demo can be carried over to the full version when it launches on PC on June 11, 2025.
A crossover DLC with the mobile shooter Goddess of Victory: Nikke will launch alongside the PC release. It will feature alternate outfits, a mini-game, and a new boss battle against the character Scarlet.
At launch, Stellar Blade was unavailable in 130 countries due to a required PlayStation Network account. Most of these restrictions have since been lifted. However, the game remains unavailable for purchase on Steam in Russia, Belarus, and eight other countries.
