Hotfix 1.0.4 for the vampire RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker landed on Steam on 9 September. You can save again, and they fixed the stalls that stopped a quest from finishing.
After launch there were already short fixes: on a pad they repaired a sprint that dropped back to a walk, and 1.0.3 added the PlayStation controller. This hotfix goes further. The worst of it: the game would at some point refuse to save. Bugs also froze the story. The hero got stuck in houses with no way out and in a cave during a quest, loading spun forever, a quest cut off early or the person you needed never showed up. The tutorial broke as well if you bit too early in the prologue.
In a fight you sometimes could not put a guard up. Dead townsfolk are no longer supposed to start a conversation, and torches no longer swell on their own until they eat half the screen. If a pad was plugged in through old Microsoft controller software, the frame rate should not drop like that. The studio writes that the game should crash less often.
Coen walks the medieval valley of Vale Sangora. A vampire lord took his family and made Coen himself a half-vampire: human by day, vampire by night, and that changes how he fights and which roads he takes. He has thirty days inside the game for all of it. People in Warsaw who made The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt built this. It is their own story, not a Witcher sequel. On Steam since 3 September.
Steam already has about 16,000 reviews, and roughly 84% of them are positive. People praise the story, the characters, quests that leave the road and become a story of their own, and the day-and-night split. They knock hitching, crashes, walking, and the controller. A chunk of the Steam minus pile also comes from Russian reviews that want Russian text, and that pulls the overall score. The day limit helps some people choose what to do; for others it gets in the way of walking the valley in peace. We already went through the pluses and minuses at length in The Blood of Dawnwalker. What the reviews say after launch. This hotfix promises to help with saves, stuck quests and crashes. That is what the studio wrote, not a reading of the newest reviews.
