The tavern management sim Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern has its announcement trailer. The game is set in the Dungeons & Dragons world and is due on PC in 2027.
The starting point is a small inn by the road in the Dalelands of Faerûn. The building gets expanded and furnished, staff get hired, a menu goes up, and guests get served. When the hall fills up, the kitchen has to stay stocked, the staff has to keep pace with the orders, and adventurers cannot be left hungry.
Guests are more than decoration. Parties can be assembled from them and sent after rare ingredients, magical oddities and treasure. The heroes are not controlled once they leave. How the job goes depends on who was sent, how they were prepared, and a roll of a twenty-sided die. A good meal gives them an extra edge before they set out.
What comes back goes into new dishes and into expanding the inn. Over time the modest tavern turns into a place people have heard of, and visitors from different races and classes start showing up. Some of those guests are new heroes. Some are familiar faces from the Forgotten Realms.
Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern is being made by the French studio Homo Ludens, the team behind Blooming Business: Casino. Dotemu is publishing it.
