The real-time strategy Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 has a gameplay clip out. It is a one-on-one fight: Orks against Necrons, Annihilation mode. You win by flattening the other player's base. Ten years have passed since Dawn of War III came out.
This is the fourth Dawn of War, a real-time strategy set in Warhammer 40,000. You run the armies from above: you put up a base, gather squads, and fight over points on the field. Orks here are green and loud, and they come in a mob. Necrons are metal skeletons with green beams. This clip is not a story mission. It is a match for two, and the point is not a score. You have to knock the other HQ down.
It opens by naming the matchup, then a screen before the fight: you assemble an army from squads, and only after that comes the battlefield. Snow, ice, ravines, tight passes. Necrons fire green beams. Orks throw red-orange flashes and fire. Bases grow extra buildings, squads pile into the cramped bits, and the camera jumps from your own construction into the mess where both sides are already shooting. By the end the field is packed and the fight is going on in several places at once. The last shot puts a date on it: 10 December.
