The strategy game Civilization VII is getting a free Arc of Tomorrow update in 2027. It adds an Atomic Age the game does not have yet, from about the 1950s through the 2050s.
A Civilization campaign starts as a settlement and grows into an empire over centuries: new technology, new cities, neighbors you either deal with or fight. The seventh game splits that history into ages, long stretches such as antiquity or the modern era, and a playthrough usually ends before it reaches the decades after the world wars. This update adds a fourth age. Cities look like the ones we live in now, nuclear weapons arrive, and so does hardware such as nuclear submarines. Other powers can be offered a mutual disarmament deal, or spies can wreck their nuclear program.
Firaxis says this will be larger in scope than May's Test of Time. Playable leaders for the Atomic Age are still almost unannounced; Mahatma Gandhi is the one name already out. A closed playtest is planned before the year is over, and the details can still change.
Earthrise, the first paid expansion, is also lined up for 2027. That campaign goes into space: a dedicated space agency, missions across the solar system, and worse disasters on Earth as temperatures rise. There is no firm date.
