Rooftops & Alleys: The Parkour Game Leaves Early Access

Rooftops & Alleys: The Parkour Game Leaves Early Access
16/06/25

The parkour-focused game Rooftops & Alleys: The Parkour Game has officially left early access. It's now available on PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

About the Game

Rooftops & Alleys delivers a realistic and fluid parkour experience with complete freedom of movement. Players can sprint across rooftops, vault over obstacles, perform tricks and flips, and grab onto ledges. Every movement is driven by full-body physics, and the animations are carefully crafted by hand to convey weight and inertia.

At launch, the game offers six maps, each featuring eight challenge runs. In addition to solo play, there are multiplayer modes such as time trials, tag, and capture the flag. However, there's no story campaign, no player progression, and no global leaderboards at this stage.

Player Reviews

Rooftops & Alleys has received mostly positive reviews from players. On Steam, it has over 5,000 reviews, with approximately 96% marked as positive. The game’s core movement and physical feel are the most frequently praised aspects.

Players most often praise:

  • The movement — smooth, responsive, and realistic. Many compare the controls to the best in the genre.
  • The ragdoll physics — falling feels natural, and the animations often add a touch of humor. Even failed jumps are fun to watch.
  • The atmosphere — clean and relaxing visuals, especially in solo play.
  • Overall gameplay — many describe it as a stress-reliever where the joy comes from the freedom of simply moving through space.

Players most often criticize:

  • Lack of tutorials — newcomers struggle to learn the mechanics, as the UI is minimal and there's no onboarding.
  • Bugs and technical issues — including getting stuck, clipping, occasional animation glitches, and rare FPS drops.
  • Limited content — the maps are explored quickly, and some players report running out of things to do.
  • Lack of goals — no campaign, no progression system, no ranked challenges. It feels like a tech demo without a long-term hook.

Most common feature requests: global leaderboards, more maps, a progression system, and support for user-generated levels.

According to SteamDeckHQ, the game runs smoothly on Steam Deck at medium settings with a stable 60 FPS and no major issues.

Overall Impression

Rooftops & Alleys is one of the most polished and immersive parkour simulators in recent years. It hooks players from the start with realistic movement and satisfying physics. The overwhelmingly positive reception — with 96% positive reviews — speaks for itself.

While it still lacks depth in terms of progression and long-term goals, the current version already delivers a unique and engaging experience. It's a standout title for anyone who enjoys fluid movement and freedom in games.
